ABOUT

“Don't think about making art, just get it done.  Let everyone else decide if it is good or bad, whether they love it or hate it.  While they are deciding, make even more art."

-Andy Warhol

Initially training as a textile designer, Vicky returned to her grass roots of drawing and painting, she has been working professionally since 2007, mostly to private commission.

Vicky specializes in animal portraits, and over the last 15 years has accrued a large customer base.  Acrylic paint is Vicky's preferred medium, but she is happy to work in pencil, pastel and gouache.  An innate ability to capture the character of her subjects, combined with an exceptional level of fine detail, ensures that Vicky's work always exceeds the expectations of her clients.

A busy family life dictates that Vicky only works part time, she wouldn't have it any other way; she is as passionate about her family as she is about her art work.  Living in a rural location in North Yorkshire enables Vicky to take inspiration from the rich colours, wildlife, and space on her doorstep, she loves nothing more than spending time out in the wilds with her family.

Private commissions come first and foremost, but when spare time permits Vicky indulges her creativity and paints what she wants.  Favourites include vibrant, colour rich landscapes on large canvases of places visited with her family.  Also beautiful studies of horses, dogs and African wildlife have further developed Vicky's skills and fueled her passion for painting animal portraits.  Collaboration with international photographers has enabled Vicky to create stunning pieces of art, many of which have have been published as cards and prints, that sell world wide.

The last couple of years have seen Vicky become involved with conservation art, using her work to help raise funds for conservation projects around the world.  in 2019 and 2020 her donated work was shortlisted into the top 100 entries in the Explorers Against Extinction Charity auction and each piece raised over £150.  This is an area that she intends to focus more on for the future as she believes it is important to use her work to make a difference.  Already a percentage of sales from a selection of wildlife prints and original paintings goes to charities such as Explorers Against Extinction and Skydog Sanctuary.
